“The Arab World is writing a new future; the pen is in our own hands.”

~ Abdallah II

The Middle East encompasses most of Western Asia and Egypt and is regarded as the land mass between Europe and the Far East. The region covers 18 countries, dozens of ethnic groups, many languages, including Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Berber, and Kurdish and the richest oil deposits known in the world.

The Middle East has played a pivotal role in religion, being the birthplace of Christianity, Islam, Judaism and many more besides.

It was also the seat of the earliest civilizations in the Sumerians, Akkadians, Assyrians, Babylonians and Egyptians.

The Islamic Golden Age created what we know as the Middle East in the 8th century. The rise of Islam united the tribes of the area and there was a real emphasis on learning and experimentation.
